The two texts presented in the fanzine is recounted by David Brooks whom participated in a series of killings with Dean A. Coril and Elmer Wayne Henley in Houston, Texas. Between 1970 - 1973 the trio abducted, raped, tortured and murdered a minimum of 28 boys. The killing spree ended violently with Henley fatally shooting Coril.

“I reach for ecstatic nausea with conflicting elements. I utilize painting techniques by mixing traditional layer painting and the popular imagenary in a vein of 70’s American photorealism. In my latest works I have included expressive style as a contrast to small details. I try to avoid creativity and stylization as a humanizing factor. I copy the original models quite faithfully favouring strict cuts through human figures as compositional brutality. The same unintenional spirit of mercilessness can be seen in the errors of pixelated digital images that I have used as models. As a raw material I use amateur pornography, that is tuned up with more or less intuitive elements. The outcome is a mix of my own assosiations, reducement, medical illustration, own photographs etc. As a side product I reflect the trends of our time in a same wretched style as eurotrash and exploitation cinema. In fact I like to see myself as trash artist. I also feel resemblance with noise music”.

In 1985, Peter Sotos was arrested. He was charged with obscenity for publishing a magazine and was later convicted for possession of child pornography. After his trial, he kept a low profile. He worked for a meat distribution company and struggled to pay down his legal bills. He underwent mandatory counseling. Then, in the late 1980s, he began writing a manuscript that, once published, would signal the mature arrival of one of the most disquieting and original voices in English literature. That manuscript was called Tool.

With Perverse bizarre humiliation Markkula draughts a new direction for Bizarre Uproar. The ideas and esthetics heard on his last album Rape Africa are harnessed and taken towards the sparse extreme where they are cultivated into powerful minimal compositions. Side A opens with a field recording from a S&M session. The three following tracks focuses heavily on guttural shouted vocals, slowly evolving electronics very much close to drone, heavily decayed drums and percussion, plus low murmuring distorted bass riffing with a fetish for doom. The overall quality of sound on the album have a fresh clean feel. This can be due to new recording technics and mastering approach.

Murky and textural sounds with focus on mid and low level frequencies, inter sped with vocals and schizoid synth work a la early/mid '90s Slaughter productions era. Side B paves reminisce to the quality of sound in 1980s industrial productions. Two minimal and well balanced compositions with synth and vocals. Continues the production focus from Side A, though the quality of sound is more compressed which realize the two songs as highly condensed and confined experiences.

Artist statement:

"I reach for ecstatic nausea with conflicting elements. I utilize painting techniques by mixing traditional layer painting and the popular imagenary in a vein of 70’s American photorealism. In my latest works I have included expressive style as a contrast to small details. I try to avoid creativity and stylization as a humanizing factor. I copy the original models quite faithfully favouring strict cuts through human figures as compositional brutality. The same unintenional spirit of mercilessness can be seen in the errors of pixelated digital images that I have used as models. As a raw material I use amateur pornography, that is tuned up with more or less intuitive elements. The outcome is a mix of my own assosiations, reducement, medical illustration, own photographs etc. As a side product I reflect the trends of our time in a same wretched style as eurotrash and exploitation cinema. In fact I like to see myself as trash artist. I also feel resemblance with noise music".

Finnish act Sick Seed continues to explore new artistic directions. The recordings on "Helsingin Synagogat" are of a more open and clear production than prior material. Honest and direct recordings, all studies in subtle brutality and nuances. While still operating within industrial territory and junk obsessions, "Helsingin Synagogat" takes a step further and fuses new musical inspirations into the already known Sick Seed compound. This is a welcome addition. The result is a darkly beautiful 7 inch with presence and nerve. A highly recommended listen.
